Welcome!

Hello, and like the title says, welcome to my blog! My name is Charley and I've been writing since I was maybe three years old, which was almost twenty years ago now, wow.

The other month I found an old book report from when I was in Year One. We'd been reading Roald Dahl books and had to fill out a sheet that had questions like "Who was your favourite character?" and "What was your favourite part?". The book I was reading was Esio Trot, a classic if ever there was. It's one of my favourite Roald Dahl books, but inexplicably, when I was just six-years-old, in answer to the question "Do you like Roald Dahl's books?", I wrote, "No, I prefer Shakespeare." I did not spell his name right, but the sentiment remained.

To any sane person that probably would have been the moment they realised they wanted to be a writer, but not me. I went through at least eight other career aspirations (including, but not limited to, international superspy, fashion designer, and pirate) before I settled on writing, and even then it was a second choice.

If not for my myriad of health issues (something I'll touch on in another post, I'm sure), then I may never have pursued this as a career, but as it is, there is nowhere else I could picture myself being, no one else I would want to be.

This blog will be a bit hodgepodge, featuring original work from myself, maybe a few guest-blogs from some friends, and a lot of anecdotal pieces. I'm so excited to share my thoughts, and I hope you're just as eager to go on the journey with me.
