This Escapril I tried something new with two of the poems. I put magazine cutouts, glue, pens, and paint to canvas and created, well, poems. Visual poems. I found images and colours that spoke the prompt to me and let my instinct take over. I wish I could say I don't remember making them because I was so inspired etc. etc. insert film montage here - but truthfully I don't remember making them because I was doing it at like 5 minutes to midnight in the hopes of getting it finished on the day of the relevant prompt. This tends to be the case with Escapril, no matter how I go about creating the poems. Anyway, here they are...

Escapril Day Seven - Portrait

A small canvas with red, orange, and yellow paint on it. There are magazine cutouts pasted on top featuring different body parts (shoulders, torso, legs, arms) in various fashions. The words 'WHO AM I' and 'WHO I AM' are written overtop.

Escapril Day Twenty-Two - Desire

A white canvas board with various fashion magazine cut outs pasted on top. Some feature the words 'NAKED', 'kiss on the', 'Hot People Read Poetry', and 'Wanted: $40 million, a palace, lovers'. There are various stickers and scribbles over the canvas too.

I'm really happy with how they turned out and I'll certainly be doing something similar again in the future. Have you ever made visual poetry?
